Student Wellbeing
The academy has a range of policies, procedures and support in place to support student wellbeing.
At Harris Lowe Academy Willesden, pupil wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. We recognise that children can thrive when they feel safe, valued and understood, which is why we place equal value on emotional wellbeing alongside academic success.
Through strong pastoral care, tailored support and a nurturing environment we ensure every child feels listened to and supported. By working closely with parents, carers and external partners, we create a culture where wellbeing is prioritised, resilience is developed and every pupil is given the courage to flourish.

Key contacts to discuss your child’s wellbeing
Most matters can be resolved by contacting your child’s Form Tutor or year team. We have a range of services that are available to support your child on site, or through referral partners. Please in the first instance contact your child’s Form Tutor of Head of Year. Or, if you would prefer, you can also speak with a member of the safeguarding team.

Transition to secondary school
To help our Year 7 students settle in and feel confident, we provide a dedicated wellbeing session from mental health support services within the first term at HLAW. These sessions focus on helping students adjust to their new environment and highlight just how important wellbeing is to life at school and beyond.
Throughout the year, students explore key topics such as mindfulness, managing emotions, and the difference between sympathy and empathy – all taught in an engaging and age-appropriate way.
We also make sure students know where they can find extra support whenever they need it – now or in the future.

Attendance
Excellent attendance is the expectation at Harris Lowe Academy Willesden. The expectation is that students attend every day unless they are unwell, in which case parents or carers are expected to contact the Academy before 9am on each morning of absence.
