Rewards & Recognition

Four values underpin the Academy. Our students are curious, with a desire to understand all aspects of the world around them. Students are determined to succeed and do their best, even when they find the task challenging.

Students do the right thing, and their actions demonstrate integrity. Our student care and show empathy by considering the views of others.

How we reward students

Staff reward students in the following ways:

Verbal praise
Through written feedback when work is marked and assessed
Positive behaviour points
An ‘Accolade Postcard’ for excellence

Families can review rewards each day through the ‘My Child at School’ app.

Going for Gold

The Academy also publicly recognises success. We aim for each child to meet the criteria to fall into one of our 'Going for Gold' categories. The table below outlines the categories and how meeting that target is rewarded. The figures in this case relate to a six-week half term, which would see a student on completing 30 school days.

For a student to attain ‘Gold’, they are in principle achieving a reward point in each of their three daily lessons. Attaining ‘Silver’ means a reward point in two of a student’s three daily lessons. Bronze means one reward point each day.

Students are also acknowledged for special achievements in their weekly assembly. In addition, each half-term reward assemblies acknowledge outstanding attendance, exceptional behaviour, academic achievement and out four values – Curiosity, Empathy, Integrity and Determination.

Our ‘Achievement Evening’ is the highlight of the year. Students who have demonstrated excellence are invited to celebrate their success with their family and staff.
