Our Vision & Values

Strong Values. Strong Outcomes. Strong Futures.

This is the standard we set for ourselves at Harris Lowe Academy Willesden and the promise we make to our community. It captures our belief that when values are lived every day, students achieve highly and leave us ready to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

At Harris Lowe Academy Willesden, our vision brings together what matters most: the character our students develop, the standards they achieve, and the futures they go on to shape.

We are ambitious for every child, and we take seriously the privilege and responsibility of getting it right – through a culture of high expectations, expert teaching and targeted support for every learner.

Our values – Determination, Integrity, Curiosity and Empathy – underpin everything that happens in our academy and guide how we learn and how we treat one another. They are not simply words on a page; they are seen in our routines, relationships, classrooms and corridors, and in the way we work with families. These shared values create the calm, purposeful environment in which students feel safe, respected and ready to learn.

Determination

Determination is the belief that effort matters and progress is possible for everyone. We develop resilient learners who persevere when learning is challenging, practise deliberately, and take pride in doing the hard work that leads to success. Determination is reflected in our high standards and in the consistent support we provide so that every student can achieve their very best.

Integrity

Integrity means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. It shapes the way we speak to one another, the choices we make, and the responsibility we take for our actions. Integrity underpins our clear expectations for behaviour and conduct, creating a learning environment where students can trust each other, feel secure and flourish.

Curiosity

Curiosity is at the heart of scholarship. Our broad, ambitious curriculum opens doors. Alongside strong foundations in English, mathematics and science, students study a rich range of subjects across the arts, sports, humanities and several languages, building deep knowledge, character and confidence. We want students to think deeply, ask thoughtful questions, make connections across disciplines, and leave us equipped with the qualifications, habits and aspirations needed for the next stage of education and for future life.

Empathy

Empathy strengthens our community. It is shown through kindness, respectful listening, and an understanding of others – qualities that help students build positive relationships and contribute meaningfully. Empathy supports the “family feel” that visitors often notice, because it is built intentionally through deliberate care, strong relationships and a culture where every student is known and valued.

Our values come to life beyond the classroom through exceptional opportunities in our curriculum, enrichment and professional-grade arts and sports facilities.

Whether through clubs, sport, the arts, leadership and wider experiences that celebrate talent and develop teamwork, students broaden horizons, build confidence and develop character; all help strengthen their sense of belonging and pride in our academy.

In this way, Strong Values drive Strong Outcomes through high expectations and purposeful support for every learner, and they build Strong Futures by ensuring students take their next steps with the skills, habits, character and aspiration to thrive in education, work and life.
