Miss Heyes is the Designated Safeguarding Lead at Harris Lowe Academy Willesden. Having proudly attended the school herself over 20 years ago, she feels a strong connection to its values and ethos.
After initially pursuing a career in transport and logistics overseeing conflict management and team leadership, the experience of becoming a parent inspired her to transition to education in 2018. It was starting as the school's Welfare Officer that Miss Heyes discovered her true calling: ensuring children are safe, supported, and given every opportunity to achieve the very best outcomes.
Proudest moment in education: Working within safeguarding, my success stories often go unnoticed, as they should. I have seen many children start in Year 7 with wellbeing and attendance issues and walk away thriving at the end of their seven-year journey with us.
Thing I love the most about HLAW: The genuine family feel – former pupils returning as parents or staff, staff going above and beyond without hesitation, and every child’s success being shared as an achievement.
