Future Leaders Year 10 Programme
We have had the pleasure of working with Think Forward on a two-year programme with our Year 10 Black, Mixed Race and Southern Asian students, about working with them to 'find their brilliance'.
This was done through 1:1 meetings and exposing them to trips and meeting professionals with similar backgrounds to their own. Trips have taken place, for example, to Uber, Garden Studios, a mentoring workshop and State Street Banking.
Across the trips, every single young person got up and presented/pitched an idea in a Dragon's Den type activity. It has been amazing to see all of them get up and pitch so confidentially in front of students from another school and staff members that they didn't know, in addition to having deep and meaningful interactions with volunteers from all these organisations.
It was insightful for them to see people with similar backgrounds to their own working in companies like these, and it allowed them to see what is possible if you work hard and put your mind to things, as well as showing them nothing is impossible.
