Cultural Dress Day – Friday 16 October

We warmly encourage all students to participate by wearing clothing that represents their heritage, nationality, culture, or family background. Cultural Dress Day is a wonderful chance for students to express their identity, learn about one another's traditions, and celebrate the many cultures that are represented within our school community.

As part of this celebration, we are asking students to make a positive contribution by either:

  • Making a minimum donation of £1 to our chosen charity, the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, or

  • Bringing in a donation for our local foodbank (such as non-perishable food items or essential household products).

Donations can be made using the link below or scanning the QR code.

In previous years, many students have enthusiastically participated in Cultural Dress Day by wearing traditional or culturally significant clothing. However, a significant number have arrived dressed for the occasion without making any charitable contribution. While we want all students to enjoy the celebration, we would like to emphasise that the event is also an important opportunity to demonstrate our values of compassion, generosity, and social responsibility.

We kindly ask parents and carers to remind their children that Cultural Dress Day is about more than what we wear. It is an opportunity to reflect on the experiences of those who may be facing hardship and to recognise how even a small act of giving can make a meaningful difference to someone else's life. Whether through a £1 donation or a foodbank contribution, every act of kindness helps to support individuals and families in our wider community who are less fortunate than ourselves.

By taking part in both the celebration and the charitable aspect of the day, our students can help create a culture of empathy, understanding, and support for others while proudly celebrating their own identities. More information can be found in the attached documents.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing the wonderful range of cultures represented across the academy on Friday 16 October and working together to make a positive impact in our community!
